Our Story

Fauna & the Moon grew from three generations of leather craftsmanship. My grandfather, George, owned his own cobblery shop in Micham, England where he trained up my father from the age of 9. At 24 my father, Mario, moved to Sydney, Australia, and made a name for himself in the shoe repair industry. He started his own workshop, which he has occupied for the past 35 years.

I've worked alongside him for 11 years, learning the art of restoring a busted up rubbish-ready shoe to something worth way more in value than the original sale price.

My father ignited my love for leather, and the flames of creativity were fanned by my husband, his ideas and his belief in my craftsmanship. Fauna & the Moon is a legacy we are trying to build up in order to pass it on, yet again, to another generation (our two beautiful, messy, little girls).

We are so grateful you've landed here and hope you stay long enough for us to make you something wonderful.

Warmly and humbly,

Sarina

The main question: Is the bag nice? Yes. Absolutely yes. The quality of this bag is amazing and the leather will not disappoint...

This is a stunning piece of craftmanship. It is such a simple yet practical design, with impeccable stitching. I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone who wants a thoughtful handmade gift for a reader, or a treat for themselves.
