“Let’s go rattle the stars.”
— Throne of Glass
When Aelin says this, it’s not a victory cry.
It comes before the victory. Before the knowing.
It’s said at the edge of uncertainty, when everything could still fall apart.
That’s the part that stays with me.
Because real life doesn’t give us sweeping moments very often. There’s no music swelling in the background when you decide to keep going (wouldn’t that be epic though?!). Most of the time, the decision is quiet. Private. Almost unnoticeable.
Rattling the stars looks different here.
It looks like waking up tired and choosing to be gentle anyway.
Like carrying responsibility that no one else can see.
Like holding faith in one hand and doubt in the other, and walking forward with both.
Some seasons feel especially heavy. The days blur together. You do the same small things over and over and wonder if any of it is moving the world even slightly.
But maybe that’s exactly where the stars are rattled.
Not in the grand gestures, but in the choosing.
Choosing to stay present.
Choosing to build something slowly.
Choosing to live with intention instead of urgency.
Choosing to believe that the quiet work of today matters tomorrow.
I think Aelin knew this. That strength isn’t always brave in the obvious way. Sometimes it’s simply endurance. Staying when leaving would be easier. Hoping when cynicism would be safer. Loving deeply in a world that keeps asking us to harden.
Some days, rattling the stars is nothing more than whispering yes to the life in front of you… even when it feels small, even when it feels unseen. And trusting that those small, faithful choices ripple outward in ways we’ll never fully witness.
Maybe we don’t need to shake the heavens.
Maybe we just need to keep choosing what’s true and good.
And let that be enough to make the stars tremble.
Warmly,
Sarina xx
